Status Kuo: Mar Vista Gets a New Restaurant Soon

I just got a sneak peek behind the scenes at Status Kuo, the newest restaurant coming to Mar Vista. It’s not open yet, but when it is, I predict delicious food and good times. Stay tuned for opening day updates, but think: October/November.

Status Kuo logoDavid Kuo, the man behind the place, is bringing a new level of neighborly-ness to Downtown Mar Vista by sometimes cooking sample meals for nearby business owners until he’s officially opened.

The sauce is a Taiwanese Bolognese, made with roast pork (think char siu and falling apart like butter), ground pork, bacon, shitake mushrooms and topped with cilantro & lime zest. Just terrific! Hearty, full of flavor, unexpected combinations, but nothing my meat-and-potato-loving friends wouldn’t also go for.

The menu for Status Kuo with be filled with rotisserie, grilled meats & vegetables, and house-made bread, along with these homemade pastas. Plus the architecture is by the same firm who did Superba Snack Bar in Venice, so it’s going to look cool, too.

I can’t wait.

Located at 3809 Grand View Blvd, just south of Venice Blvd.
