Even though it’s called North Venice Little League, it’s played here in Mar Vista at the top of Grand View hill. Ahh, the boys of Spring. Or in our case, the boys and girls of Oh-My-Goodness-It’s-Not-Even-Spring-And-It’s-Freezing-Up-Here-At-The-Field. But it’s a great game and those who play it love it. Plus there’s always the snack bar: The Chili Fries are legendary.Early bird sign-ups for the 2010 season begin this weekend and you will save $25 by registering before January.

Teams will be formed at the beginning of February. T-Ball and 5-pitch are for ages 5-8, Farm and Minor Divisions are for ages 7 – 11, Major is for ages 10 – 12, Juniors are ages 13-15, and Seniors are ages 15-16.

Regular fees are as follows: T-Ball and 5-pitch: $150; All other divisions: $175. (This amount includes $60 in raffle tickets that can be sold and the money re-couped.) Early bird prices are $25 less. And Early Bird rates apply to all registration forms received by December 31st. Forms can be downloaded from the North Venice Little League website (www.northvenice.org) and mailed to: P.O. Box 66189, LA, CA 90066. You can also register in person at the field this Saturday and Sunday, December 12 and 13, from 10am – 2-pm. (Enter off Centinela at Rose.) Note: if you are new to the league, please bring your child’s long form birth certificate and 2 items to prove residency.
