Mar Vista Farmer’s Market Wrap-Up 2-18-10

Today’s shopper is Kathy Owens and she’s making a cheese plate from Lelio & Sons Cheese. Kathy’s showing off her cheese plate with Chris Masson of the Cheese Booth.  She’s got cranberry-cinnamon goat cheese, parmigiano-reggiano, stilton with apricot, havarti with dill, smoked gouda, jarlsberg, danish blue, and garlic and herb chevre. She’s going to serve it with a big beautiful baguette. Yum!

The Master Gardeners were on hand today in the Green Booth, as they are every month. Great gardening tips, free plants and seeds. They are awesome!

Today’s shopper is Jennifer Wilson and she’s going to make vegetable juice. Jennifer WilsonShe’s buying all organic vegetables, starting with beets, then celery, celerycarrots, carrotsparsley parsleyand apples. applesShe throws them all in her super-duper juicer, and bingo! Delicious and healthy!

Today in the Green Booth, The Master Gardeners were on hand, The Master Gardenersas they are every month, doling out equal amounts of advice and seeds — all for free. seeds and plantsThey are awesome.

The MVCC Green Committee met this week as well (here’s Sherri Akers and Jeanne Kuntz at today’s meeting)Sherri Akers and jeanne Kuntz — also a monthly event — and they are gearing up for the 2010 Mar Vista Green Garden Showcase. Save the date: April 25.

Mar Vista Elementary school was represented by a bunch of MVM’s seeking donations for their annual Silent Auction.Mar Vista Elementary MomsThere’s a new farm selling at the market as of today: Weiser Family Farms from Tehachapi, with purple carrots, striped beets, and heirloom potatoes. Very cool. Mar Vista Farmer’s Market Wrap-Up 12/6/09

Today’s shopper is Sara Davenport, owner of Broadway Skin Studio, a full service medical spa specializing in skin rejuvenation and facial contouring. Sara is going to make guacamole. Sara Davenport of Broadway Skin StudioShe takes 2 avocados, peels and chops them, but takes care not to mash them into a paste. She then chops 1 beefsteak tomato, Hot House Beefsteak tomatoes1/2 a red onion, red onionsand a habanero pepper (which is spicy-hot, so use at your discretion) and adds it all to the avocado. The she juices 2 lemons and does a final mix, again, trying to leave it chunky. Delicious!
