UCLA Bringing Volunteers to Mark Twain This Saturday, January 28th

UCLA’s fantastic Volunteer program, One Bus, One Cause, is coming to Mark Twain Middle School on Saturday, January 28th, to revitalize the Learning Garden.

They say they are at capacity for this event and will not be needing volunteers, However, they do still need donations of healthy snacks and beverages. Please contact Marianne Brown to make arrangements (marianne.p.brown @ gmail.com) by Friday at the latest – or just bring your donations to Mark Twain Middle School at around 1pm. Volunteers are meeting at _________

** HEALTHY snacks and beverages….no potato chips, corn chips, donuts, etc., please!

On Sat. 1/28 donations can be made from 9:30 until 1:30. Simply enter through the school gate which will be open w/ signage on Lucille Ave. (street on southside of campus off Walgrove). People can drive through onto the blacktop until they see signs on the left to the garden; and they can park anywhere on the blacktop close to the garden gate. There will be plenty of signage in the garden as the refreshments will be put in a shady place near “registration” probably just inside the gate to the garden.

It’s time for Winter vegetables at the Mar Vista Farmer’s Market: Kohlrabi, Tomatillos, Radishes, Chard and Jerusalem Artichokes, to name a few…

Jeanne Kuntz, co-Chair of the Mar Vista Community Council Green Committee, was in the Green Booth today, reminding people that there is still time to get your garden on the upcoming Mar Vista Green Garden Tour (it’s happening on April 21st).

She also wanted to make sure everyone knows that the Green Booth is still in need of re-usable bags for their bag-sharing program.

There are no plastic bags given out at the market anymore – so please bring any extra re-usable bags you can spare – and if you need any for yourself, please feel free to take what you need.
