New today at the market: Organic Fuji apples at Cuyama Orchards’ booth,
and persimmons across the way.
And they aren’t new, but Tenerelli’s peaches are delicious.
Today in the Green Booth, Jessica Fuglsby and Molly McHugh of SoCal Water$mart, a region-wide program of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California,
were on hand letting the community know about rebates available for energy-efficient clothes washers, rotating sprinkler nozzles and weather-based irrigation controllers. You can learn more about the program and all the qualifying products on their website, BeWaterWise.com.
Have a Greener Halloween! At reDiscover Center you can construct a costume from the recycled materials they have in their warehouse.
The workshops will run from 1-4pm on Sunday afternoons, and you have a choice of either 10/17 or 10/24. Cost is $15. Bring a T-shirt, hoodie or something like that to use as a base and during the workshop you’ll turn it into a unique creation.
Call or email to reserve a spot.
Saturday mornings at 10am there are Halloween Decoration workshops as well. Call for more info.

I’ll be in the Green Booth at the Mar Vista Farmer’s Market this Sunday to talk about ideas for Greening Halloween. We’re making it a goal this year in our family to reduce the amount of plastic in our costumes and decorations, and there will be other moms on hand to talk about ways to reduce sugar in the treats we give out (and consume).
Join me, Annie Barnes of Inspire the Change, and a booth full of Green Mar Vista Moms Sunday! Boo! Plus reDiscover Center will have a booth at the Market with recycled costume ideas.
See local solar installations up close and personally on Saturday, October 2nd at the West LA Solar Tour. The tour starts at 9am at Windward School, and wraps up at 3pm with a social event at the Electric Lodge in Venice. More details on the Open Neighborhoods website, including itinerary and rsvp details.
