It’s a gorgeous day at the Mar Vista Farmer’s Market today! Feels like it’ll be another scorcher!
Root vegetables are in abundance.




And The French Macarons are here – and they’ll be back one more time before the end of the year.
Happy Thanksgiving to you all from everyone at the Mar Vista Farmer’s Market!
Today is the big shopping day for those of us who’ll be cooking up a storm on Thursday for Thanksgiving, and the Mar Vista Farmer’s Market really delivers the goods – even in the pouring rain!
Almost everything you need for all the traditional side dishes are for sale here at the market, including potatoes,
sweet potatoes,
green beans,
celery and sage for the stuffing,

and butternut squash for roasting.
Laurent of Bistro Laurent also has tarts available to order for those who’d prefer not to bake this year.
James Brennan of Open Neighborhoods was on hand letting everyone know about their Community Solar event happening in Culver City today – and about all the great benefits of installing a Solar system on your home.
And in the Green Booth, Brent Locke of EnerGTech Experts was on hand to show off their cool g-Meter software that monitors your home energy usage and helps you save on energy costs.
Once the rain let up today, the Mar Vista Farmer’s Market was its usual great place to shop and meet friends!
Today there were baking demonstrations by Susan Holtz, Mar Vista resident and Chef/Owner of Baking & Cake Art Academy. Check out their classes in November: Fanciful Mini Gift Cakes, Pie Crust Perfection and Mixed-Medium Fall Floral. Looks like fun!
New today – and back on the 1st Sundays – Franny Bakes – beautiful and tasty desserts and treats – both Vegan and Vegetarian.

And Melissa Stoller was collecting shoes again for Soles 4 Souls in the Green Booth. Such a great cause!
Today was the Day of The Dead (Dia de Los Muertos) celebration at the Mar Vista Farmer’s Market – and it was fabulous!
The Altar,

the performances by Cambalache and Grand View Elementary’s Dual Language students – awesome!

In the Green Booth, Melissa Stoller was collecting used shoes for Soles4Souls and it looked like they were getting a lot! Thanks, Mar Vista!

performances by the Ghouls,
Didi Pop
and Family Dance Jam, 

there was a costume contest and LA Costume Swap was there to help embellish your existing costumes.
New today: Les Macarons Duverger – authentic French Macarons – yummy treats!
Raw pistachios from the Santa Barbara Pistachio Company – so cool!
And in the Green Booth, the Master Gardeners were handing out seed packets and seedlings, as they do every month. Stop by!
It started out pretty gray today at the Mar Vista Farmer’s Market, but the sun finally came out and it turned into a gorgeous day!
Blueberries are back for a short visit – a gift of the recent heat wave, 
there’s a new food booth: Smart Simple Gourmet, 
and Chef Jonathan Schuler was on hand doing a cooking demo.
In the Green Booth, Food & Water Watch was there, talking about the Farm Bill and identifying GMOs in our food.
The Mar Vista Farmer’s Market was hopping with Halloween Costumes today as it was the big LA Costume Swap – part of the Green Halloween effort. I did my best Trashion effort as a Paper Bag Princess, there were Pirates galore, and the Costume swap was in full swing!





The Real Princesses were doing face painting!

Paula Daniels spoke about the Los Angeles Food Policy Task Force’s Good Food For All agenda.
Urban Green now has a pizza oven rocking the market! Along with seasonally-appreopriate pecan pies – deelish!
And Malibu Meat Pies are now a fixture at the market!
