Today I am cooking from Anna Getty’s Easy Green Organic cookbook (affiliate link), which I was given to review back when she was my Sunday Shopper. I’m going to try a bunch of the recipes that I can make with ingredients from the market, and I’m starting with Sauteed Baby Squash with Tarragon and Soy [...]
Sunday Brunch, Mar Vista Style.
The Mar Vista Farmer’s Market offers many prepared-food vendors, and Cafe Laurent’s booth is a great choice for omelettes, waffles and French Toast. Here’s an omelette I watched being created for a lucky customer.
Today I just basked in the bounty of Summer. Also at the market today, Modaa was in the Green Booth talking about low emission paint, and the Real Princesses were doing free face painting.
The market wrap-up today is all about BirthdayPalooza: It happens to be mine as well as the market’s although I am clearly older than it (*ahem*) — and Diana, the market manager, graciously bought me a slice of birthday cake from Sugar Jones – so delicious! Thank you Diana and thank you, Precious! New vendor [...]
The Mar Vista Farmer’s Market turns 4! Come on out and celebrate! I know I will be!
Tonight I’ll be grilling a rack of lamb from Cali Farms. I love their food! New at the market today: walnuts and walnut oil from Rancho La Vina. And the Green Booth hosted The Master Gardeners, as they do each month. They were giving away tomato plants today – sweet!
At this point in July, it seems to me we should be seeing more tomatoes, but so far only a few amazing heirlooms and a handful of reg-a-lahs. I’m told we’ll see major amounts of the vine-ripened red orbs within 2 weeks, so stay tuned. New at the market: The Smart Fish Company is making [...]
Today I met my newest BFF, Julianne Gorman, who’s making a simple, delicious fruit salad of peaches, blueberries and mint. So summery! In the MVCC Green Booth today, Buzz Boettcher was there to demonstrate his gray water recycling systems. Check him out for more information at ReUseGrayWater.com.
Happy 4th of July! I have made a traditional (and yes, not that original) favorite with my fresh market produce today: Red, White and Blue Brownies with strawberries, cream cheese from the Cheese Booth and blueberries from Santa Barbara. Yum! Enjoy your BBQ-ing today, Mar Vista!
