KCRW celebrates the Pie for the 3rd year in a row with its Good Food Pie Contest, held this year at LACMA on Sunday, September 18 from 2-4pm.
And they are still seeking Pie Entries! Mar Vista, I know you can bake!
The first annual Good Food Pie Contest was won by Mar Vista’s own Barbara Treves, who won for Best Fruit/Nut and Best Overall! Mar Vista could become known as Pie Town with another win this year, so please: start rolling out your dough!
Good Food host Evan Kleiman has been posting a Pie a Day on her blog of the same name all summer long and the anticipation for this year’s event is high! Pie Categories include: Cream/Chiffon/Mousse, Fruit, Nut, Savory – and, in a nod to the host location of LACMA and its current exhibit, this year will also include a Tim Burton category. (Hint: Think Beetlejuice meets Key Lime.)
All Pie entry information can be found on KCRW’s website.
Did I mention the Celebrity Judges? Jonathan Gold, Eric Greenspan, Jet Tila, just to name a few…
And for those who wish to simply enjoy the Pie atmosphere (and a slice or two), the event is Free and open to the public, and coincides with LACMA’s Andell Family Sunday, which begins at 12:30 and includes family art-making and a “Sugar Tour” of the Collection, led by Maite Gomez-Rejon, which you will need to pre-register for (info at art bites.net).
