Kale at the Mar Vista Farmers’ Market January 15, 2017

There are so many kinds of kale at the Mar Vista Farmers’ Market – and it’s the perfect time of year to be eating it. I like it raw in salads and cooked in soups. What’s your favorite way to eat kale?  Councilman Mike Bonin held Office Hours at the market this weekend and he’ll be back multiple weekends this Winter, so come on by and say Hello. The California Grain Campaign was at the market today to promote their goal of 20% Whole Grains in all prepared food at Farmers’ Markets. Selva International and Ocean Friendly Gardens were the guests in the Green Tent, helping provide resources for creating a Green Yard. There was amazing lavender by Idyll Horse farm. New this week – Rowe of Venice with raw organic superfood treats. Teebsie is now making gummy bears and lollipops, in addition to the popsicles. New this week – Coco Rico: Dairy free, raw, Vegan, French-style coconut yogurt. And in the Community Council Blue Tent they encouraged kids to draw with chalk and play with bikes.
