There are so many kinds of kale at the Mar Vista Farmers’ Market – and it’s the perfect time of year to be eating it. I like it raw in salads and cooked in soups. The California Grain Campaign was at the market today to promote their goal of 20% Whole Grains in all prepared food at Farmers’ Markets. Selva International and Ocean Friendly Gardens were the guests in the Green Tent, helping provide resources for creating a Green Yard. There was amazing lavender by Idyll Horse farm. New this week – Rowe of Venice with raw organic superfood treats. Teebsie is now making gummy bears and lollipops, in addition to the popsicles. New this week – Coco Rico: Dairy free, raw, Vegan, French-style coconut yogurt. And in the Community Council Blue Tent they encouraged kids to draw with chalk and play with bikes.
