Mar Vista Farmer’s Market Wrap-Up 1-24-10
Posted in Farmer's Market on 24. Jan, 2010
Today’s shopper is Jennifer Wilson and she’s going to make vegetable juice.
She’s buying all organic vegetables, starting with beets, then celery,
carrots,
parsley
and apples.
She throws them all in her super-duper juicer, and bingo! Delicious and healthy!
Today in the Green Booth, The Master Gardeners were on hand,
as they are every month, doling out equal amounts of advice and seeds — all for free.
They are awesome.
The MVCC Green Committee met this week as well (here’s Sherri Akers and Jeanne Kuntz at today’s meeting)
— also a monthly event — and they are gearing up for the 2010 Mar Vista Green Garden Showcase. Save the date: April 25.
Mar Vista Elementary school was represented by a bunch of MVM’s seeking donations for their annual Silent Auction.
There’s a new farm selling at the market as of today: Weiser Family Farms from Tehachapi, with purple carrots, striped beets, and heirloom potatoes. Very cool.
The LA County Department of Health was here today giving out Free H1N1 shots — and they’ll be at the market next week as well.
Plus Tulips are in season!
