Camping Follow-Up

Ojaicamping
Lucia asked for an update and so here it is: I didn’t like camping. I tried to go out with an open mind, really I did. But there was just something about all the dirt and the no sleeping that made me very cranky. Unhappy even. (See my post on the LA Moms Blog about it.)

I just prefer a clean indoor bathroom and cooking over a stove inside a kitchen with a sink nearby, and mostly I like sleeping in an actual bed.

I do like hanging out with friends, sharing a meal and some laughs, enjoying nature and a family outing. I just don’t think it has to be an overnight affair. I’m just sayin’.

HOWever, there was a bright spot in the weekend, one that made the drive up worth it: The Water Park. (AHHHHHHHHHH…….) Cool, huh?

And then there’s the Lazy River, so lovely, so relaxing.

Whoever invented this was a true genius.

More SoCal Summer Fun: Free Kids’ Movies at the Bridge

Yes, that’s right: every Wednesday morning of summer, the good people at the Bridge Cinema de lux offer up a different movie for kids for FREE. GRATIS.

Oh wait, there is a cost: the kids need to have completed a book report to get in. And they can bring parents and siblings with them. A pretty nice price to pay, if you ask me.

It’s called the Bookworm Wednesdays, and we’ve been going for a few summers now. I HIGHLY recommend it. We’ve seen Curious George, Happy Feet, Bee Movie so far, and today is Shrek The Third.

Here’s the manager, Sam.

He makes the whole experience fun with jokes and prizes and giveaways for all.

Just part of the fun in summertime here in LA.

Off We Go, Ready Or Not!

I’m taking the kids and going camping. Words I hoped never to hear come out of my mouth. And yet, they’ve demanded asked really nicely, and so, here we go. The car is packed up as full as it can get, I’ve borrowed things from several different friends, we’ve gone to the bathroom for the last time — and now, we can drive away.

Please think happy, safe thoughts for me this weekend. I’m a little nervous…
